gosh. this is a rather common situation. Have you ever told him that you liked him too at some point? I think you should gently tell him that you're sorry but you would rather stick as being friends. If it breaks his heart to hear that, I think you should back off for a while and let things calm down. He will start talking to you again when he has moved on. But don't act awkwardly or coldly after you tell him this, because it will break his heart even more. So yeah, becareful of your actions girl.
